Psychophysiological features of young women with a penchant for alcohol and tobacco dependencies

A study of psychophysiological features of the first year students prone to alcoholic and tobacco dependences was performed. The study involved 79 young women of 18-20 years studying at different faculties of the university. With the help of a computer program "Evaluation of social and psychological adjustment and personal potential of students" were analyzed a number of psychological parameters: psychosocial adaptation (Osnitsky AK), a tendency to various dependencies (Lozovoi GV), the level of reactive and personal anxiety (Spielberger BH, Khanin LE.), the level of stress, the state of aggression (Bass-Darky), motivation for success (T. Ehlers); psychophysiological indicators: shaped memory, attention concentration, speed of sensomotor reactions (by a simple hand-eye reaction to a visual stimulus in the regime of determining the reaction of the right or left hand).The results were analized by methods of variation statistics using a nonparametric test for independent samples Wilcoxon-Mann-Whitney test. It was found that for students of the 1 course prone to alcohol and tobacco dependences is characterized by a certain psychophysiological "portrait". Women are prone to alcohol abuse characterized by high performance of emotional comfort, striving for dominance, aggressiveness and low stress concentration. Women are prone to tobacco addiction had high levels of self-acceptance, emotional comfort, image memory, aggression at low stress. Thus, the young women with a propensity to alcohol and tobacco dependences have psychological and physiological characteristics that must be considered in the prevention work.
