The paper studies psycholinguistic basis for teaching professionally oriented reading in foreign languages. It analyses different reading approaches existing in psychology. A special attention is given to the activity strategy approach which enables a reader to process text information using particular techniques and methods to facilitate the reading process. Using context in reading foreign professionally oriented literature is a key aspect for text perception process.
