Psychological characteristics of youth as an age group

The article represents social and psychological analysis of youth as an age group and gives the existing definitions of youth as a social and demographic group. The author discusses the priority of the sociological approach to understanding the essence of youth and explains the urgency of social and psychological approach to the subject. The analysis of youth as an age group includes three key issues: the specifics of the lifestyle and the social status, location and functions of the public system in which youth is included, historical and social conditions of the transition from youth to adulthood. The historical and social context of the formation of key characteristics of youth as the age group are considered. Reaching adulthood is defined as the main task of the youth.
