In the given article there is a study of structure and content of a notion «Psychological Competence of a Forensic Expert», which is abase of a wider notion - professional competence. Competence is considered a complex, multilevel, personal qualification, combination of cognitive and communicative characteristics of a person, as well as knowledge, skills and practices, providing the regulation of activity or as a combination of professional qualities of a personality, which may help to achieve qualitative results. Taking into account that the activity of a forensic expert includes a great deal of both cognitive and communicative processes, the conclusion that may be made is the necessity of detailed study of the psychological competence of a forensic expert.
