The paper explored a phenomenon of resistance in childhood. The author has not solely considered effects of psychic trauma in children in terms of suffering and trials, as a prevailed psychology concept assumed in the papers, but following the path of culture and occupation approach to the postmodern study of a trauma, either examined the issue in terms of child’ growth and personal development, and shaping resistance to life’ hardships in him/ her, to cope with. The purpose of the study was identifying the specifics of resistance to traumatic events displayed in/ manifested by children. The outcomes of the study enabled revealing some specifics like a stronger resistance to everyday stress in children from single-parent families, and their tendency to demonstrate flexibility to difficulties while hardship occurred. The major premises of the paper bear features of unconventional research that made it possible to conduct in-depth study in that direction, as well as apply the outcomes of the study in order to shape resistance to traumatic situations in childhood.
