The paper examines the processes of institutionalization of public representation in Great Britain and Russia in the first third of the 19th century in connection with intensification of political interrelations. It is studied how the mentioned period of political situation in Great Britain was depicted in the Russian printed press in the first half of the 1830s. Some specific features of this period are determined in comparison with similar representation in other countries. The study analyzes the role and place of the press in formation of public opinion in Russia on the Tory Party in 1831-1834, as well as the adequateness and authenticity of such a role and place. It is shown that the Russian elite had sketchy knowledge of the Tory Party in 1831-1834 and a rather vague notion of it with regard to understanding foreign political realities. The research puts an emphasis on the fact that the correctness of estimation of political situation in Great Britain in the first half of the 1830s in Russian printed press seems reasonably doubtful.
