«Putevoy style» chanting in the Trinity-Sergius monastery in the 16th - 17th centuries: functions of structures in the hymn

The author analyzes the functional structure in old Rassion monody on the example of «putevoy style» chanting mainly from the Trinity-Sergius Monastery chant collections of XVI-XVII centuries. She considers the structure: «tonema», «kokiza», «prosodema», «popevka», «litzo», «fita». The analysis showed that there are various functional connections. In each structure consisting of smaller units there are functional relationships between its parts. General logical functions - initial, middle and end are common to all structures. Investigated and other formative and expressive function. It was found that the simple structure («tonema», «prosodema») have limited functionality compared to the more complex. The presence of functional links indicates the compositional logic of the Trinity «putevoy» chant.
