Ways to optimize logistics costs during the transportation of goods from Japan to the Russian Federation

The article is devoted to the consideration of topical issues related to the development of supply chains in modern economic conditions, characterized by the globalization of economic relations and the integration of production systems in various countries of the world. A separate emphasis is placed on the importance of improving and increasing the efficiency of the Russian logistics system, which connects the transport flows of Europe and Asia, and also has a significant transit potential. The purpose of the article is to study ways to optimize logistics costs when transporting goods from Japan to the Russian Federation. Research methods: analysis, synthesis, economic and mathematical modeling, systematization, generalization. The recommendations formulated based on the results of the study relate to cost reduction in the transportation of containers by sea. The essence of the author’s proposals is the need for rational placement of distribution centers within the framework of the multimodal system being formulated in the country, as well as optimization of the scheme for moving empty containers, which will reduce the costs associated with their transportation and storage.
