Ways of expanding problematic and thematic field in teaching the course "History of American literature in the XX century"

The author considers the works of J. Hergesheimer, an American writer who was not enough researched by Russian Literature criticism. Without this writer the literature palette of 10-20 years of the XX century cannot be accomplished. This fact makes the presented work relevant. The article defines the major creative particular features of works of J. Hergesheimer in the context of literature situation in the USA during the first decades of the XX century.
