The purpose of this article is to consider a significant period in the history of the Swedish Wallenberg family of entrepreneurs, which fell at the end of the XVII - beginning of the XIX centuries. Having begun during the Great Northern War, the public career of the most prominent representatives of this family - from a local official to a bishop in a large provincial city - reflects the dynamics of socio-economic and political processes in Sweden during the period under review. Undoubtedly, the contribution of the early representatives of the Wallenberg dynasty to the cultural heritage of their country is also of interest, expressed not only in writing a book that became one of the brightest examples of Enlightenment literature in the Nordic countries, but also in the first translation into Swedish of Homer's works. It was on the foundation laid during the period under review that a large financial and industrial group subsequently grew, and to this day is under the leadership of the Wallenbergs.
