Prevalence and risk factors of arterial hypertension among the population of Samarkand region

Conducted epidemiological study of informal male and female population living in Samarkand city and in the countryside (Uzbekistan) in the age range from 19 to 64 years. It is shown that the prevalence of hypertension among the examined persons was 32.4% (among urban population and by 35.2%, among rural and 27.9%). The most frequent risk factor was physical inactivity among the urban population of 54.7% among the rural population of 50.1%. On the second place among men, Smoking (city and 47.0%; village and 39.9%, respectively), and among women obesity (city of 14.4%; the village is 16.3%) and increase in blood cholesterol (city - 34,9%; village - 56.4 per cent). Other factors were alcohol abuse in men: city - 8,5%, the village is 4.0%. The prevalence of hypertension positively associated with AKS, POM and FR. The results obtained can be used for planning and implementation of prevention programmes aimed at reducing morbidity, mortality and improve the health of the population in the study region.
