Prevalence of thyroid diseases was studied in inhabitants, working at Kalinin Atomic Power Station as well as in some categories of population, working at factories without any contacts with ionizing radiation sources. Investigations didn’t detect any difference in degree and structure of thyroid diseases in people, working at Kalinin Atomic Power Station and in some categories of population, which do not stay in contact with ionizing radiation (134,2; 156,5; 158,4 per 1000 working inhabitants, respectively; p>0,05). The prevalence of node goiter in both groups is discovered (100%; 76,9%; 75%). The correspondence between light iodine deficiency and light degree of endemic goiter, which proves an absence of additional strumogenic factors in region with ionizing radiation sources (atomic power station), is revealed. Working categories of population living in iodine-deficient Tver region are aware of the symptoms and profilaxis of iodine deficiency but do not always pay attention to this problem.
