There is solid evidence obtained from epidemiological studies of the etiological role of high-risk carcinogenic human papillomavirus (HPV) in the development of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN), which in 5-15% of cases ends with invasive cervical cancer (CC). The aim of the study was to determine the prevalence of different types of high risk papillomavirus among women with proved cervical intraepithelial neoplasia and cervical cancer in relation to their age, disease severity and lesion site.
