Expanding cooperation between Russia and Algeria through the prism of BRICS

Бесплатный доступ

Historically, relations between the two countries have been built on the principles of friendship and trust. Algeria, defining its long-term development vectors in partnership with Russia, is shaping its image as a reliable partner. Amid complex transformational processes in the global economy and geopolitics, the leadership of both countries has expressed mutual commitment to strengthening strategic cooperation in key sectors such as energy, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, high technology, and others. In late 2022, Algeria submitted an official application to join BRICS, and in October 2024, at the BRICS+ Summit in Kazan, it officially became a BRICS partner. This decision is driven by Algeria’s long-term development plans and the need to attract significant investments across various economic sectors. Russia and Algeria possess undeniable potential for expanding joint trade and production. Algeria also shares the common vision of BRICS member states regarding the necessity of reforming the global order and achieving fairer conditions for emerging economies.
