The article is devoted to the gold mining industry of the Republic of Guinea. It is noted that gold exports, including artisanal gold, make a significant contribution to the country's balance of payments and are an effective means of combating poverty. At the same time, as the authors point out, gold mining contributes to deforestation, soil degradation and air pollution with dust, being one of the most environmentally harmful industries. The need for measures aimed at increasing environmental friendliness in gold mining, as well as ensuring the protection of the rights of people involved in this sector is determined.
