Development of a method for assessing the credit worthiness of oil and gas complex enterprises based on indicators of analysis of their financial condition taking into account the industry specificity of their activities

Assessing the creditworthiness of clients and enterprises is a two-way process, in which credit institutions are interested, on the one hand, and the enterprises receiving loans, on the other. The urgency of developing a methodology for assessing the creditworthiness of enterprises, taking into account the sectoral specifics of their activity, is due to the fact that the generalized normative values of the indicators used in practice by Russian commercial banks may not reflect the specifics of the state and development of specific industries. Such a situation can lead to a distorted picture of the financial condition of the enterprise and, as a consequence, to incorrect decisions that are made when deciding on providing a loan. The purpose of the study is to develop an approach to assessing the creditworthiness of an oil and gas company based on an analysis of the financial condition of the company. The research methods are the synthesis method, analytical grouping. In the article, as a basis for developing a methodology for assessing the creditworthiness of enterprises, a methodology for assessing the financial condition of subsidiaries and dependent companies of JSC Russian Railways is proposed for use, which has been adjusted to take into account the real values of the performance indicators of such enterprises. The application of the proposed methodology for assessing the creditworthiness of oil and gas enterprises will improve the accuracy and reliability of assessment mechanisms, create conditions for reducing the level of credit risk of banks, which will contribute to both improving the financial results of the company and the banking sector as a whole.
