Working out the methods for the specific diagnostics of nodular dermatitis using diagnostic smallpox in sheep

The goal of the research is to work out the methods for the specific diagnostics of nodular dermatitis using diagnostic smallpox in sheep. Research objectives is to conduct studies that determine the possibility of diagnostics nodular dermatitis of cattle using the means and methods for diagnostics smallpox in sheep. The study objects were as follows: cattle skin with the clinical signs of nodular dermatitis; good-doers’ skin; blood serum of ill and recovered cattle; blood serum of good-doers; sets of diagnostic agents for complement fixation test and diffuse precipitation reaction of smallpox in sheep produced by the Research Institute for Biological Safety Problems (Gvardeysky urban-type settlement of Zhambyl Region, Kazakhstan). In total 32 samples of blood serum from sick and healthy animals with antigen of virussmallpox in sheep and 12 samples of organ tissue material were examined. All reactions for statistical processing were performed in five variants. The test material from cattle with the clinical signs of the nodular dermatitis was obtained at the regional veterinary station of Aksu city, Pavlodar Region. As a result of the research, it was found that nodular dermatitis disease is a relatively new and not typical for Kazakhstan infectious disease of cattle. Consequently, studies have found that in the reactions of diffusion deposition and component fixation with the use of the sets of diagnostic agents for smallpox in sheep, the antigenic relationship between nodular virus of cattle and virus in smallpox was proved. Means and methods of laboratory diagnostics of smallpox in sheep can be used for intravital and postmortem diagnostics of nodular dermatitis of cattle with a high degree of efficiency and reliability.
