The Joint Russian-Kazakhstan expedition of IAET SB RAS and National Museum of Republic of Kazakhstan carried out the archaeological survey in the East Kazakhstan area. One of the focal areas was Eastern part of Tarbagatai region situated in the South of Zaisan depression and North of Tarbagatai ridge. Stratified occurrences were not found in the course of survey. When the valleys of Espe and Kandysu Rivers had been investigated five new sites were found. The most interesting Espe-3 site represents the workshop near the open source of stone raw material. Complex of Espe-3 contains lithics chronologically determined by the span from the Middle Paleolithic to Neolithic. Lithic artifacts were obtained in small amount at the occurrences of Espe-1, -2, Taibakan and Sholakbulak.
