Intelligence work of the Japanese Korean army in the Russian Far East and north Manchuria, 1906-1922

The article deals with the activities of the intelligence services of the Japanese Korean Army in the Russian Far East and North Manchuria in 1906-1922. The research is based on the analysis of archival documents form the Defense Research Institute of the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan. The author concludes that the Japanese Korean army was flexibly in modifying its intelligence forces and assets, staking on the use of qualified agents from among the Japanese emigrants and Korean citizens who were in sympathy with the Japanese in the south of Primorye and along the Chinese border.
