The author describes the problem of the formation and development of analytical sociology as a theoretical and methodological direction in modern sociological knowledge. The aim of the work is to show the process of institutionalization of analytical sociology, as well as to identify the position of analytical sociology in the XXI century and to characterize the main stages of the formation of analytical sociology and its significant features. In particular, the author considers the contribution of F. Znanetsky as the founder of analytical sociology, as well as the views and ideas of P. Hedstrom and D. Manzo, as scientists who have made a significant contribution to the institutionalization of this direction in the development of sociology. The author also examines the activities of sociological research and educational organizations, such as the Institute of Comparative Sociology in Sweden and the HSE in Russia, which influenced the development of this area.
