The evolution of animalistic genre in Alexey Stepanov's art

The article is dedicated to animalistic genre in Alexey Stepanov’s art. One of the key-problems was to see the evolution of animalistic painting in artist’s art and to indicate its source in hunting genre. It’s important to underline that Stepanov was one of the first Russian artists who followed and developed animalistic painting starting from household or hunting genre. For the first time Stepanov’s animalistic paintings were isolated from his hunting genres, for the first time it was systematized and analyzed as independent field of Stepanov’s oeuvre.
