The practical significance of the article lies in identifying the need for a scientific approach in the digitalization of the economy and society. The ongoing processes of economic transformation contribute to the development of urban space at a new, digital level. The prospects for the implementation of the Smart City project and the use of electric vehicles are considered. The effects for the city in the implementation of federal projects to create a "Smart City" are revealed. It is planned that a "Digital Valley" will be created in Perm, in which companies will develop IT projects.
