Pre-1917 gas engineering development in Russia

The article studies gas engineering development problems in Russia during the early period of its establishment at the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century. An analysis of the early stages of gas engineering development in Russia allows us to systematize historical data and demonstrate the process of gas industry establishment in the USSR and Russia. This study aims to define the main stages of gas engineering development in pre-revolutionary Russia. Primarily this period is characterized by a poor level of the technological usage of gas fields, as well as secondary importance of natural gas as a viable fuel and energy resource in the country.
