The research was carried out in 1986-2011, on the premises of Botanic garden belonging to Petrozavodsk State University (southern Karelia, an average taiga subzone). The research objects were Syringa vulgaris L., Syringa microphylla Diels in Engl. Bot. Jahrb., Syringa emodi Wall, ex Royle Nymal., Syringa henryi С. К. Schneid. in Fedde Bepert., Syringa josikaea Jacq. f. in Flora, Syringa villosa Vahl, Enum. pl., Syringa vulgaris "Congo” Lemoine. It was found out that air temperature has a significant and noticeable impact on the dynamics of the Syringa species development. All species, except for S. vulgarisf. songo, adapted well to new conditions and, therefore, have good prospects for introduction in Karelia.
