The article covers the problem of development of communicative competence of children with speech disorders. One of the key factors in the successful social adaptation of children with General underdevelopment of speech is communicative competence in the space of interaction with peers and adults. What preschool age is extremely favorable for mastering of communication skills because of special sensitivity to linguistic phenomena of interest to the understanding of speech experience, communication. For the effective development of communicative competence is necessary to select such a method which would allow to use verbal and non-verbal way of communicating. One of the modern methods of psychological correction and psychotherapy, which combines these two methods of communication is art therapy. The article considers the peculiarities of correctional-developing programme using the method of art therapy for the development of communicative competence of senior preschool children. The study confirmed the assumption that group art therapy facilitates the development of communicative competence of children of senior preschool age with developmental disorders of speech.
