Development of regional competitiveness with application of strategic planning tools

The article studies resources of the strategic planning techniques aimed at the development of the territorial competitiveness. Under the conditions of globalization the roles of some regions and local territories in the world economy are changing. There is a new trend, when competitive advantages are becoming more and more localized, i.e. they cannot be moved, bought or reproduced elsewhere. The study of the experience of strategic planning in the municipalities has revealed a number of problems impeding their development as independent economic entities, which are able to act under the pressure of competition.
