This article explores the issue of fostering critical thinking in the context of foreign language education as one of the key priorities of contemporary education, particularly within the information society, developing critical thinking skills is of paramount importance. Foreign language instruction offers a conducive environment for cultivating cognitive abilities such as analysis, synthesis, interpretation, and argumentation. The study examines the concept of «critical thinking», outlining its core attributes and dimensions. Particular attention is given to the role of critical thinking in the modern educational process, aiming to provide a comprehensive and nuanced understanding of the term. Additionally, the article presents a range of methods and strategies designed to promote critical thinking in foreign language learning. The research draws upon both national and international pedagogical practices, underscoring the necessity of integrating effective instructional tools into the foreign language teaching process.
