Development of engineering education laboratory base

Engineering professions and specialties were traditionally developed through using new materials, energy conversion and creation ofnew channels of information transmission. The profession ofan engineer includes creating, inventing, and changing the world. To evolve in this area, engineers must understand the nature ofphenomena and processes which are beyond simple theory - the knowledge which is conventionally created and transmitted in educational laboratories. However, over time the basic function of laboratories has changed. This article contains an excursus based on the analysis of factors which influenced the formation of new tasks and the main goal of laboratories.
