Developing a public support mechanism for ageing citizens as a direction for reforming the social welfare system for China's elderly

Since an ageing population is a pressing issue for Chinese society, the question of who will support the country's economy and take care of its ageing citizens is acute. In this regard, the problem of state provision of the system of care for the elderly has arisen in the Middle Kingdom. To date, there has been a need to develop a public support mechanism for elderly citizens, which is reflected in the reform of the social assistance system for the elderly in China. The article attempts to highlight current trends in Chinese society regarding the construction of a public service system for the elderly and their safety. It is noted that the development of an effective social welfare mechanism requires public participation and the involvement of private entities to provide funding and staffing for social assistance for the elderly citizens. The conclusion is that the state's due care for the elderly will enable the country's active age population to continue to develop the Middle Kingdom's economy in order to maintain the country's sustainable development and improve the living standards of its citizens.
