The formation of the methodology for teaching the Law of God in Russia has a long history, which has undergone all periods of reorganization of the educational process and is relevant today. The religious and methodological heritage of Archpriest Apollonius Temnomerov is of exceptional importance for teaching the Law of God, since he was familiar with the problems of teaching this discipline, being not only a teacher of the law, but also holding the position of a church official in the field of religious education. Archpriest Apollonius Temnomerov had his own vision of optimizing the educational process, which he repeatedly declared in educational and methodological publications. The methods and techniques he proposed served as a basis for teachers who wanted to improve the level of students’ knowledge. The main feature of his system is that the teacher must implement the idea of linking the educational material with the real spiritual life of students. Archpriest Apollonius Temnomerov prioritized educational goals, while the discipline the “Law of God” was to serve, first of all, the religious and moral development of students.
