Development of musical and aesthetic competences of students in musical theatre classes

The article examines musical theatre classes in the context of developing musical and aesthetic competencies of university students. Such important competencies as musical interpretation and stage expressiveness; ensemble music-making; theatrical plasticity and movement on stage are highlighted. As specific examples, the article provides work on the musicals "Cats" and "Les Miserables" in a higher educational institution. These are two classic musicals that are highly recommended for use in the educational process. At the end of the article, the organization and holding of student musical theatre performances is analyzed.
