A mass man image development in the cinema

The study reflects the aspects of a mass man image development in the cinema from the appearance of a new art to the present. Mass culture acts as the main form of culture as a whole today. Nowadays, it is obvious that the theoretical models of mass culture created at the turn of the 19th-20th centuries should be revised and clarified. The research focuses on the interpretation of a mass man image in the cinema from the perspective of the contemporary culture. The author reveals the essence and specific nature of a mass man in the post-industrial and information society. Besides, an attempt is made to consider the historical development of this phenomenon in the context of movies. The author analyzed a large number of movies, classified a mass man into the main types and reviewed the modes of his interaction with the surrounding social reality.
