Development of court’s power to correct defects of the preliminary investigation during the first years of Soviet power

The article describes the process of forming court’s power to correct defects of the preliminary investigation in the Soviet period. The author analyzes the first Soviet laws and regulations for proceedings with a view to consolidate the identified power. It is concluded that for the first time these documents consolidated the unlimited possibilities of the court to correct defects of the preliminary investigation, some of which were preserved in the current criminal procedure legislation.
