Development of orthodox monasteries in the Orenburg region in the context of post-reform modernization

The paper contains the results of analysis of development of orthodox monasteries in the Orenburg region in the conditions of post-reform modernization (since 1861). The author reveals the main changes in the numerical and gender structure of monasteries, notes the major achievements of the monasteries in the sphere of economic development and increasing of cultural level of monks.
