The article is devoted to the consideration of the stages of development of legal regulation of a fixed-term employment contract in Russia. The labor legislation of Russia is analyzed, the rules regulating the procedure and the conclusion of a fixed-term employment contract. In particular, the Labor Code of 1922, the Labor Code of 1971 and the Labor Code of the Russian Federation were considered.
