Бесплатный доступ
The article analyzes the development of the Protestant community of Kazakhstan in 1990–2020 in conjunction with the history of Protestant churches in Central Asia. It notes the extreme conservatism of Protestant churches in the Soviet period, which contributed to the break of conti-nuity with charismatic churches founded with the participation of foreign missionaries in the 1990s. The new Protestant denomination of Pentecostals consolidated in the 2010s due to religious legislative changes. In Russia, a similar process occurred two decades earlier. The ar-ticle reveals that Pentecostals came to the forefront within Protestant churches, displacing the Baptists who dominated in the Soviet era. It is concluded that in the last decade the number of Protestant churches decreased due to the emigration of the Christians. This trend is characteris-tic of all Central Asian countries.
