Property insurance market development in the Russian Federation in 2001-2011

Property insurance market development (except liability insurance) in Russia is considered in this article as it prevails in voluntary insurance segment, and its dynamics made general contribution to positive dynamics of voluntary insurance market development. Market problems and restraining factors are analysed. The author paid special attention to mortgage insurance market as developing and the youngest market segment (at that moment). Federal insurance supervising service data, published since 2 nd quarter of 2004, and publications of rating agency «Expert RA», interviewed and collected information about (from 10 to 100 companies in different periods) insurance companies in Russia since 2001, were information sources.
