The article is devoted to the problem of the students` self-training competence. It presents the content and methodology of the preparation of the students at the teachers` training colleges to practice-language self-training through the realization of the forms and situations of self-training activity. The methods of independent mastering by various aspects of a language and kinds of speech activity, the ways to overcome the most wide-spread difficulties are described stage by stage in this article.
