In connection with the introduction of digital technologies, the possibility of working remotely, the population of Russia is increasingly inclined to live in ecologically clean rural areas. The purpose of the study is to determine the typology of rural areas, which are located in different ranges in terms of distance from large cities. Achieving the goal of the study required the use of several general scientific and special methods: deduction, system analysis, and statistical and economic analysis. The object of the study is the socio-economic relations that arise in the process of development of the municipal districts of the Krasnoyarsk Region. The paper considers measures for the development of rural areas located near large cities, presents a differentiated approach to the regulation of measures depending on the distance from the city. According to the authors, the proposed approach will make it possible to give evidence-based recommendations and measures for the development of rural areas located near large cities, create conditions for living in rural areas, improve the standard of living of rural residents and the investment attractiveness of territories, as well as develop small businesses in rural areas and promote creation of cooperative unions. The matrix of measures to support rural areas, depending on the orientation of the territory, rural or urban, as well as the typology of the area, depending on the distance from the urban center, includes three main zones in which measures to support rural areas are proposed.
