Agriculture development as a basis for ensuring food security in the region

The article substantiates the role and contribution of agriculture in ensuring food security of one of the industrial-agrarian regions - the Republic of Mordovia. The authors analyzed the main indicators characterizing the agricultural sector of the region. An assessment of the level of self-sufficiency of the republic in basic food products is also given. Based on the correlation and regression analysis, an equation was constructed that reflects the influence of the degree of development of the agricultural sector of the economy on the volume of agricultural production. Measures have been formulated for the further development of the agricultural sector of the economy of the Republic of Mordovia in the context of ensuring food security.
