Development of theoretical basis of functioning of the education system

The article presents an analysis of the directions of development of the sphere of education in the modern world and substantiates the need for further development of theoretical approaches to the analysis of the features of its functioning. The aim of the study is to determine the limitations of the theory of public goods to explain the transformation processes in the modern education system. Particular attention is paid to the analysis of the role of the state and the functions it performs in the field of education. The necessity of taking into account the priority of public interests in the development of a modern concept of education has been proved.
