Development of trade and economic cooperation of border regions of Russia and Kazakhstan

The article presents the results of the study about the trade and economic cooperation of border regions of Russia and Kazakhstan with an emphasis on the provisions formulated in the National Project “International Cooperation and Export”, the Transport Strategy of Russia for the period up to 2025, in the Declaration on the Further Development of Integration Processes within the Eurasian Economic Union of December 6, 2018. In the course of the study of the current state of border trade between Russia and Kazakhstan, a tendency for an increase in the contribution of Russian border regions to the total volume of Russian exports and a growing intensity of trade relations between border Russian-Kazakhstan regions are revealed. The study designates the key Russian territories, which are promising areas of trade and logistics interaction between the Russian-Kazakh borderlands. They can be used to place industrial and logistics clusters on them, focused on strengthening trade and economic cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan, modernizing the economies of the border regions of both countries in order to increase level of socio-economic development.
