Development of passenger transport in Ulyanovsk in 1971-1980

The article contains an analysis of the key features of development of the passenger transport infrastructure in Ulyanovsk city in the 1970s. The authors argue that passenger transport is an important link of the urban economy system, which made possible the existence of a city as a single whole, and the peak of its development in Ulyanovsk falls on the years of the ninth and tenth five-year plans (1971-1980), when intensive construction was carried out in the city. The problem is analyzed on the basis of archival sources drawn from the funds of State Archive of Ulyanovsk region and State Archive of Modern History of Ulyanovsk regionб most of which have not previously been studied. The authors highlighted the main trends in the development of passenger transport, as well as its problems and achievements.
