The development of linguistic guessing skills based on the author's individual word-formation (on the material of literary texts)

The article gives the insight into the formation of linguistic guessing, the ability to recognize author's individual word-formation («nonce words») based on identification of certain linguistic processes which are regularly involved in the creation of new words and expressions (author's neologisms) with new meanings. These words are not included in dictionaries, and their understanding can be achieved through the development of word-formation skills. Some of these word formation processes are illustrated and examples for their use are given in letters and the early stories by A. Chekhov.
