In existential philosophy, communication is specifically understood because it is reduced to an intrapersonal thought communication between the different components of the individual self. That is why in the process of authentication the subject and the object of identification, as a rule, coincide since they are the components of the same person, and the identification itself is reduced to self-identification preserving the nature of interaction. In this case, identity is established between the individual components of the same self. The processes of authentication are influenced by the external social changes transforming various structural elements of the personal consciousness. The means of self-identification are sign systems that are realized with the help of speech. It is the symbolic nature of thought communication that determines the meaning and significance of the identification processes. This article analyses the concepts of such famous existential philosophers as K. Jaspers, J.P. Sartre, M. Buber. The researchers agree that identification is necessary because it serves as a source of information about oneself and promotes personal self-knowledge.
