"Superman" image realization in early realist narratives by M. Gorky

The article analyzes the image of “superman” and its realization poetics in the early realistic narratives by M. Gorky of the 1890s: “Chelkash”, “Konovalov”, “Malva”; in their correlation to Gorky’s modern critics of the end of 19th - beginning of the 20th centuries. Gorky as romantic has found out in Russian life the image of a tramp with a soul, who longs for ideal, disdains satiation and peace, setting up direct parallels with ‘superman’ by Nietzsche. Heroes of analyzed narratives have such features like power, rebel spirit, readiness to exist beyond good and evil, which correlates to romantic concept of personality.
