Since the 1980s, the educational concept of Objective-based education (OBE) has gradually become a core concept of educational reform in the United States, Australia, and Singapore. The concept is widely practiced in engineering and medical higher education. At present, Chinese universities focus on the training of highly qualified specialists with knowledge of the Russian language in accordance with the OBE concept. However, the effectiveness of individual technologies and methods of its realization in the pedagogy of professional education has not been studied enough. Specific theoretical and practical-oriented models for the implementation of the educational process corresponding to this concept have not been developed. This article analyzes the implementation of the OBE in teaching Russian as a foreign language. The purpose of the study is to develop a model for teaching Russian as a foreign language, based on the concept of OBE. The article substantiates the positive impact of the OBE on the teaching of Russian as a foreign language in Chinese universities. The authors characterize a learning model based on OBE; make recommendations on creating conditions for the implementation of the proposed model. The authors justify three conditions of the OBE model realization: to increase the efficiency of management and the professionalism of teachers; to establish synergistic integration of production, education and research; to reform education through innovative scientific and practical achievements.
