The present article discusses some approaches to implementation of educational technologies in undergraduate teacher training (at a pedagogical university). The authors focus on the problem of changing sign systems in presentation, interpretation and acquisition of information in educational process at higher education institutions. Different groups of educational technologies are described according to the priority of knowledge formation, experience enrichment and creative tasks solution. As a conceptual basis of this approach the authors propose Joy Paul Guilford’s theory which justifies the development of students’ convergent and divergent types of thinking in order to improve teaching and enhance academic attainments. The article also analyses the hermeneutic approach in the context of changing sign systems in undergraduate training.
