The purpose of this article is to study the correlation and interaction of reality and the imaginary in the game on the example of chess within the framework of philosophical anthropology. It is shown that the game (including chess) and the imaginary have the following properties - the conditionality of what is happening, the imitative nature of what is happening, participation requires metamorphosis and reincarnation, what is happening is reversible. The being and nature of man do not possess such qualities, they are of a real, real nature, but man is capable of imagining. The interaction of the game and reality is possible due to the fact that with the help of imagination it is possible to form the person traits necessary in life.
