Revival of the author

Whenever a reader deals with an artificial text, there is an author’s program which shapes the text by means of a network of meanings and ideas arranged into an overall system of values. Asserting the priority of the author means accepting the traditional communication scheme “author – text – reader” as a means of translating cultural and personal meanings. We assume that a fictional text basically contains two types of meanings: a cultural meaning which is only indicatively and non-continuously highlighted throughout the text, and an author’s personal meaning (or sequence of meanings), given in a concentrated form within a local continuity of a text. If a recipient reads the text with a view of the author’s system of meanings, he can successfully avoid uncertainty of interpretation.
